The White Chocolate Cocktail

Every morning begins exactly the same.   I roll on to the floor in a heap at 4:45 a.m., which in my opinion is the middle of the night.   I wish I could tell you I pop right awake and climb joyfully out of bed when the alarm sounds but it’s quite the opposite.  My eyes open for a second, close for 5 seconds, open for a second, close for eight seconds and so on until the back up buzzer alerts me that I have fallen back to sleep.

I trudge into the kitchen to put the coffee together and most of the time I remember to turn it on before going through the house and closing all of the windows and turning off the fans that my very warm blooded Honey has left on during the night to cool down the house.   A note to the hot blooded one ~  It does get down in the 40’s here now… it’s cold at 4:00 in the morning  ~   Back to the coffee pot to see if I can get at least half a cup out of it to drink while it finishes brewing.  The first taste of that wicked black brew is heaven…I down the three swallows and head back for more.

Today was no exception and the morning rolled with ease as usual.  Then something caught my eye.  National White Chocolate Day.  Now technically, white chocolate is not chocolate, but it tastes so damn good I will concede it should have an entire day all to itself.  In it’s honor I can’t think of anything else I would rather indulge in than a White Chocolatini and I was thinking there may be a few of you out there who feel the same way.

2 ounces of vanilla vodka
1/2 ounce of clear creme de cacao
1 ounce of Godiva White Chocolate liqueur
dark chocolate shavings

Freeze a martini glass while you shake the cocktail.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Pour the vanilla vodka, clear creme de cacao and the Godiva into the shaker.
Shake vigorously to chill and combine.
Strain into your well-chilled martini glass.
Garnish with the chocolate shavings.

Just so you don’t think I am a complete lush who has had nothing today except White Chocolatinis…I am also including a link to a fabulous site called Rococo Chocolates for a bit of sheer indulgence.

After that I thought perhaps I would add something the entire family can enjoy.  The days are getting cooler and this is a great recipe to keep in the cupboard for nippy fall weather, so I am sending you to Food Network’s Paula Deen for Malted Marshmallow White Chocolate Royale ~ an absolute fabulous recipe that I was tempted to make even in this muggy warm afternoon.
